Fall orchestral season

The 2026 - 2027 orchestral season begins this month, and I start the season with four orchestras in three states!

First, I'm guest second flutist with the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh for "A New Season", featuring Schubert's Symphony No. 6 and a world premiere by Simon Rivet under artistic director Edward Leonard for two performances on Friday, September 18 at 7:30 PM at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 PM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Next, the Resonance Works Chamber Orchestra returns with "An Anchor in Time", highlighting Copland's 13-instrument Appalachian Spring and Gilda Lyons' An Anchor in Time under artistic and general director Maria Sensi Sellner on Sunday, September 27 at 3:00 PM at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. Purchase your tickets to hear this program before we record Gilda's work for RW's debut album, which will also include my performance of Nancy Galbraith's Flute Concerto!

In Ohio, I'm guest alto flutist with the Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra for "A Night at the Opera" featuring Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé under music director Russell Mikkelson for two performances on Saturday, October 17 at 7:30 PM and on Sunday, October 18 at 4:00 PM, both in the Reese Center Auditorium at Ohio State University-Newark in Newark, Ohio!

Finally, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra kicks off our season with "Ode to Joy", performing the world premiereof Sarah Bassingthwaighte's Svalbard Symphony and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with music director Maurice Cohn on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 PM at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia!

From there, the WVSO continues our season with "Timeless Melodies", presenting Mozart's Symphony No. 40 on a three-city tour of the Mountain State on Friday, November 6 at 7:00 PM at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, West Virginia; Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 PM in Charleston, West Virginia; and on Sunday, November 8 at 2:30 PM at Blennerhassett School in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

The WVSO showcases our educational mission with six Young People's Concerts of "Building the Orchestra" with Britten's Young People's Guide to the Orchestra on Tuesday, November 17 at 9:45 and 11:30 AM at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia; Wednesday, November 18 at 9:45 and 11:30 AM at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia; and on Thursday, November 19 at 9:15 and 10:30 AM at Blennerhassett School in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Lastly, the WVSO continues our Symphonic Series with "Piano Dreams and Dances", featuring Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 PM at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia.
