December orchestral performances
The orchestral season is in high gear this winter, starting holiday offerings from the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra! "Sounds of the Season" on Friday, December 3 at 7:30 PM at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg, on Saturday, December 4 at 7:30 PM at the Clay Center in Charleston, and on Sunday, December 5 at 2:30 PM at Blennerhassett School in Parkersburg features holiday pops favorites. The WVSO's annual performances of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker with the Charleston Ballet are on Friday, December 10 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, December 11 at 2:00 PM at the Clay Center in Charleston.

Resonance Works presents the film premiere of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel live on Saturday, December 18 at 3:00 PM in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Kelly Strayhorn Theatre. This collaboration with Opera Ithaca and the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus features the Resonance Works Chamber Orchestra under the direction of conductor Maria Sensi Sellner. Tickets for the live premiere are $30 ($15 for students), with streaming options beginning December 19 through the holiday season.
